I am looking for a solution that would allow me to do automatic updates to the N800 if the user is connected to the Internet.

Has anyone seen an application that can do this?

I was thinking of installing wget on the device and using cron but how will I detect if the user is online...

Wouldn't that just be an "apt-get update" then "apt-get -y upgrade" ?

I assume somewhere in the API there is a call to see if a link is actually established..then again 'ifconfig' should be able to give you some info towards that as well...and if link is established...apt-get update & | apt-get -y upgrade &....I actually haven't attempted to put apt-get in the background on the n800..but why shouldn't that work?

It works, I've ssh'd into it while playing music and done it. Made the music stutter pretty good though.

Can I use apt-get to download video files to the N800 when the user is connected? I want to be able to update the content on the N800 without too much interaction from the user.
