Hi,

I've been having this weird problem lately on my N900, I've noticed it lately (after installing pr1.3 but now sure because of it).
When I am half pressing the camera button the camera app with open, even when camera lid is closed. Also when opening the camera lid it wont open my camera app.

Couple of things:
1) I do have the original back case.
2) The sensor of the lid does work. I know that because I entered XTerm and wrote dmesg and got:
cam_shutter (GPIO 110) is now open
cam_shutter (GPIO 110) is now closed

After opening and closing the lid.

So what could be the issue? Can it still be some kind of hardware issue or most likely software issue? (I did not reflash when updating to PR1.3)

Thanks!

I'm not sure I understand which magnet you mean. You mean the one which is on the kickstand itself or on the cover?
In either way it seems that I do have them both in place. But how is it affected the button anyway (it is just a magnet isn't it??)

Thanks,
Sagi

check the back cover status in xterm.
the back cover detector is a reed sensor...so it needs a magnet on the other side to work.
the magnets for the kickstand are only visible when the stand is out. one is in the middle of the stand and one on the back cover so that they meet.

Hi Dante,
on xterm when I write smesg I only get statuses regarding opening the camera lid and closing it (cam_shutter (GPIO 110) is now open/closed), I do not get notifications about the back cover being opened/closed or the kickstand. Should I?
Anyway, the two magnets on the kickstand exist. But even if the problem is with the magnets, why should they cause the problem which I am having?

How can I check if the problem is Hardware or I just need to reflash my device?

When camera opens, is it black or does it say "Open lens cover"?

Did you update the firmware to PR1.3 yourself?

If so, did you have any custom button apps that allow you to change the function of the cam button/slider installed prior to the update?
If you didn't uninstall these to revert back to default settings before the update, or reflash the EMMC at the same time, then that could be where the problem lies.
Old settings from 3rd party apps lying around on the EMMC could be causing conflicts.
