i know there are some search results on here that tells me how to get into root on the machine but A - they dont tell me whether it will work for my brand new n800 that i have just updated to the latest firmware and if so is it dangerous.

i want to add security tools to my n800 and i want to make sure im not gonna screw it up thanks

aircrack works but a bit buggy... so to answer your question Yes they do work.

thanks but i saw the alternative to become root (with xterm and bear something or other!!) is that all ogood for the n800 aswell thanks - what about the airmon and all the others apps, are they easy to install and do they work..thaasnk

airmon dows not work and for gainroot install this file http://eko.one.pl/maemo/dists/mistra....1-2_armel.deb

becoming root is really quite easy and does not require dropbear/ssh as a lot of places say. Just install xterm and that becomeroot file from the previous poster, then in your xterm, type "sudo gainroot". Ta-da, root prompt!
