Hi the last few days I experience some strange problem on my n900.

Every now and then I have to reenter the SIM pin code again.
Apperantly the SIM connection gets broken and basically I;m not reachable until I enter the pin code again.
Some times, after entering the pin code, a simcard icon with a red line through it appears in the status bar and I cannot make calls.
I then poweroff/on the device to make it work again.

I tried removing the SIM card and putiting it back in but still the problem persists.

I have the syslog program running, and it show messages like this:

Anyone else experiencing this or knows how to deal with this?

Thanks

Ask your provider for a new/replacement simcard and/or ask if they have some problems with their towers. Had this too for some days but it's gone now.
Else have a look at connlock if installed and disable all the (auto)lock options.

Got a new sim card but unfortunately the prblemis not solved.
I still get the 'simcard not found icon' every now and then.

Sometimes switching to offline mode and back to online brings it to live again.
But not always.

What seems to help is stopping and starting the SSCD application from an xterm.
session. It then asks for the pincode again.

I also pulled the contact pins for the simcard a bit in order to make better contact between the pins and simcard, but to no avail...

I had a similar problem - intermittant but then over a month got worse.

Had to return it to Nokia "care" and after 2 attempts to repair they replaced my n900.

mirakels it sounds like you are suffering from what will kill a lot of N900s, this is a common hardware problem and sadly will only get worse.

I have had two phones replaced under warranty because of this same problem. For me it seems to happen after six to eight months, but others have had theirs fail much sooner.

If you try a re-flash you will most likely get a CMT re-programming failure.

Try Power Searching for 'SIM failure' or 'SIM not recognized' to learn more.

Best thing to do is as jedi says and take it to a Nokia service centre. (I hope you are still in warranty)

I reflashed the phone this afternoon, but minutes after the reboot the simcard was unavailable again.
So I guess I take the advise to try get a replacement.

At least I can tell them I already tried a new simcard andreflash but all to no avail!

The n900 is 18 months old now so should still be in warranty.

Thanks all for the advise and help
