Hello guys,
Please! Please follow me step by step on how to start FTP server.. I have no problem running one on my Nokia E71, but N900 is way above my power. I installed proftpd (I think that's what the application has been called) and also busybox, but I simply don't know what to do next. I only want to access my N900 at home, so I don't really care about security etc.

Any really simple tutorials?

You'd be much better off running SSH instead of FTP.

See this page - basically you want to install SSH server on your N900 and WinSCP on your desktop (I assume you're running Windoze).

Make sure you use a 'good' (ie strong) password as by default your N900 will be accessible via 3G/SSH.

i'd prefer ftp protocol instead of ssh, as it will work pretty much on most of my devices without installing anything that is not in the system by default.

Sorry, I just don't get that whole configuration file process.
Could you please post step by step instruction? I'm not the only one who has the same issue..

Seriously just do a bit of googling, eg:

There's quite a few step-by-step guides, and I noticed a video in the results too.

If you don't understand specific bits, just ask

I don't want to use SSH, I'd prefer the good old times FTP
.. but if I won't get any progress with it, I'll try with SSH.. but that will be in couple of hours, cause I'm in a rush to work.

Ah sorry - I assumed you'd been won over by the SSH arguement!

IMHO you'll find getting SSH/WinSCP working easier than FTP, and it's more flexible and waaaaay more secure too

There is also the option of tinySMB on the N900, which I use at times.

i'm having problem when copying files to n900 using the application you suggested jedi, the error is "bad packet lenght", "software caused abortion" and few more.. why is that happening?
