Got my machine with firmware ...-45 and upgraded to ...-48 using the windows firmware utility downloaded from Nokia Europe. I did follow all the onscreen instructions and now I cannot open the browser window (kinda suck on an internet tablet right?).

It start opening the browser window, status says connecting and then the window closes... no explanation, no error message.

Email and RSS work fine (so do the media players).

How can I fix this?

Sorry did not mean to spam... I did rebooth the unit (twice) and it now seems to work.

However despite doing a backup of my bookmarks I lost all of them... strange but better than losing the ability to surf the web.

Hi Howdoin,

I used the update available at maemo.org, and I was able to keep my bookmarks--basically, the entire contents of the backup restored flawlessly. It may be necessary to use the flasher tool in order to use this update, however, which requires either Linux, MacOS, or MacOS X. It may be possible to use the Windows flasher utility with the firmware from maemo.org however.

I used the firmware from maemo.org with Nokia's windows flasher and it worked fine.
I didn't bother doing a restore, I had only set a few bookmarks at that point.

I did poke through the back up files I had created. Simple zip files with a neat structure. You could probably manually pull the bookmarks back if the restore function is not working for you.

I've seen several people mention that .48 is the latest. However, the latest version I see, on either the NokiaEurope support site or the Maemo download page, is .45-8. Where did you get a .48 image from?

I did a backup/flash/restore and the only thing that seemed not to be there were bluetooth pairings...
