How do I switch from one to the otther without changing the default? I want Opera as a menu option and Microb as another menu option. For now.

There is only one browser available at one time. But you can change it at the "Set Engine" entry in the browser menu. After that restart the browser.

I don't have to change "set engine" to run Minimo. Why with Microb?

You have to edit /home/user/.browser and change the line hidden=false to hidden=true
Remember to stop all browser windows _first_. Afterwards you'll see the option in the menu.
Why this wasn't made the default configuration from the beginning is beyond me.

As for set engine vs. minimo: Minimo is a separate, standalone browser. Microb and Opera shares the user interface, but they use separate browser engines.

and why is it that 'hidden=false' means 'hide the menu entry', while 'hidden=true' means 'show the menu entry'?

sorry, it's just a rhetorical question......

hidden=true was default when i downloaded Microb. Btw "set engine" is not translated.

I think it depends on whether you did a restore from backup after flashing to the latest firmware. Some people are finding that the option is enabled automatically and others are having to edit the file to enable it.
