I wanted to created recurring tasks for paying my rent, sorry I am bit forgetful.

I used to keep a event but then when I complete I cannot mark it done and it disappears after the day is gone.

I tried creating a task, but it seems there is no way to create a recurring tasks in n900.

Any idea if this can be done?? if at all...

I have just started programming for N900 by learning some Qt and C++. I have written one command line program that interfaces with the calendar and now I'm going to work a GUI app. I plan on building an extended version of the tasks capability.

Basically, I plan on creating my own sqlite db to store additional information about tasks and wrap the basic, built-in functionality with my own.

I think building a repeatable task managed in my wrapper application may work and I'll consider it as a feature.

If you don't mind doing it outside the Calendar, you can do it with Alarmed:

Create an alarm with the message you want, schedule it for the upcoming day you want (like the 1st of April), and select Monthly for Repeat. Be sure to set the end day for the repeat as far in the future as you will need. The Alarm with the message will come up every month on that day.

I am sorry for this--but thank you for using recurring instead of the version so many people use.

kudos to anyone who takes the time to improve the task functionality on my n900.

The best solution I've found is using toodledo tasks, synced to my phone with nueavasync over MfE. unfortunately the task list on the calendar doesn't hold near the amount of info as my toodledo setup, so I just make time every evening to add context to the tasks i created quickly throughout the day. The repeat funtion in toodledo is very robust and can handle repeats upon completion or due date... very handy.

I'm working on sorting out their syncML api to make metadata come along some how. not sure yet.

I use a variant of a GTD methodology so my task list gets heavy usage and calendar is sparsely populated.

I have a couple of questions regarding your use cases:
  1. Can you describe in more detail how your current solution works?
  2. Can you describe what data syncs now to toodledo and what 'metadata' you are trying to get to go?
  3. Can you describe your variant of GTD?
  4. Ideally, what does the solution look like?

Thanks!
