THis is my first post (yay)

I want to import a Droid 3 into the UK, here all out networks are GSM.

On alot of the listings on ebay people say the phone needs to be 'activated with verzion' to be used outside of the USA...I don't get what this means...

Can someone please clarrify

In addition to the GSM/WCDMA bands this phone also has CDMA bands. With CDMA instead of a SIM the user information is flashed directly to the hardware. I do not know if being activated by Verizon is what enables the GSM/WCDMA radios but if that is the case then someone would have to activate it.

If the GSM/WCDMA radios work independently of the CDMA activation then it should not be an issue. I'd e-mail Verizon or Motorola customer support for clarification.

I looked over the Motrorola store site and it let me put one in my cart without a Verizon agreement so my guess is you'll be able to use it with a SIM and no Verizon account.

Gotcha, thats somthing i never knew( the flashing direct to hardware)

I guess i will have to look into this.

Sorry bud your out of luck, unless you want a phone without a telephony + 3G capabilities.

You need to get the Motorola Milestone3 instead, its the same device but with a slot for SIM cards and a GSM frequency for most Europe/Asia.
It's available in Canada and Brazil (soon most of South America).
