I have a problem with VNC , I managed to run the VNC server on my PC but it says I have to add a forwarding port 5900 . I added it but still doesn't work . I have a d-link di-524 and I just can not open that port . Is there any other way to control my pc trough internet from any place ?

vnc through the internet is really unsafe. A very good way of making it more secure is through an ssh tunnel. Then forward the ssh port only. You also may want to look at NX. The port number may also be different depending on how you set up the server.

Please can you check the port on the VNC server. If you already had a vnc server it may be that it created another on port 5901. to connect to that server you would need to connect to "ServerIP:1"

Also, why is your private IP 0.0.0.0? you need to input the local IP of the vnc server machine.

Ok , now I changed server's port to 5901 and added at router port forwarding . Now I get this message from VNC test but I still can not connect with my N900 . I tried 192.168.0.100:5901 , :1 and 79.118.180.65:5901 and :1 , I also tried without ort but still no luck .

Message from VNC test :

Connection test succeeded.

VNC Server and your network are correctly configured to accept connections over the Internet.

However, please note that VNC Server appears to be behind a NAT router with IP address 79.118.180.65. If you are connecting from outside your LAN, then you will need to use this IP address.

Dragoss, be careful about advertising IP addresses and open ports, it is best to keep them to yourself. I need you to do a number of things to check the connection.

If you are connecting from within the LAN you will need the "LOCAL" ip address (if it has one), not the router address you provided (please delete that).

1) Find the exact IP address of the server machine. I assume from your screenshot that the VNC server is running on Windows 7. Click "start" type "cmd" and run as admin. When the black box appears type ipconfig and hit enter. Under the right network hardware your router screenshot suggests that you should see an IP address like 192.168.0.XX where XX could be anything from 0 to 255.

This is the IP address for when the N900 is on the local network so to connect you would connect to e.g

192.168.0.XX:0 on port 5900 or
192.168.0.XX:1 on port 5901 etc

when outside i.e. on the internet (not on your LAN) you would need to find your WAN IP address which I assume is the one you posted.

2) find the exact port on which the VNC server is working on. This should be in the settings somewhere.

First thing i would do is to check the Router.. i.e. 192.168.1.1 and then make sure NAT is open and the portforward is okay. If the desktop has 192.168.1.5 then forward 5900 to it.

on a linux box i would ssh tunnel.. From the terminal of the N900 to another linux box: ssh -C -L 5900:localhost:5900 user@ip-number

And then use PresenceVNC on the n900 and connect to user:0
