As I don't follow what happens in iHappyworld I was struck with news 3GS phones lag and can open settings in 15+ seconds after latest updates. Guess what, new device is fast, upgrade. Not sure if 1.4 update would do the same to N900 if 950 would be available for sale for everyone, but planned obsolescence kicks butt. Getting a freshly flashed 1.3.1 N900 I consider it to be the best even currently on the market. Times of slowness or lack of apps are so long gone. Also incresing battery life twicefold by undervolting...
If anybody knows that Nokia used planned obsolescence in any of its products step up. For me this is the greatest point to make a company is not fu*king with you/your wallet.

All the updates by Nokia made the user part better. We got to 1.3.1 with better and better interface. Community is what made this thing explode. Iphoners 3gs now open settings in >15sec??? Is my N900 incredible opening fapman faster than this?

He mean that many companies - Apple to name one - introduce in their upgrades for older devices (on purpose) things, that decrease performance.

He also asked if anyone know about such practices being done by Nokia to *any* their device, as he would like to know that he should stay away from further Nokia products (as if WONTFIX would not be enough reason ). Said that, he also noted that PR 1.3.1 was update boosting performance (which I disagree totally), and that N900 performance is increasing due to continuous community effort (where I agree totally).

If I was able to parse OP, I think it wasn't so impossible to read it with understanding Especially, that he wasn't using 'luser' style form of writing - just some short forms.

/Estel said this in his ugly, non literate english

Nokia obsoletes their products from the moment you buy it. In the name of market segmentation they make (used to) a large variety of devices each with different built-in defects so you have to choose the device with the defects that affects you the least. Their aim was that you're supposed to buy more than one phone so that eg on weekdays you carry a "business" phone, and on weekends/holidays you carry an "entertainment/multimedia" phone.

Ha!!! i like the way kureyon put that! But think about fw as well as hw. these days symbian´s still around & will be, meego left the starting gate late but anyway, and now wm7. i mean really!!! once it was hard enough just choosing a nokia based on hw. i´ve never needed to switch out sims or carry more than one cell at a time. of course learning curve through brick life-cycles was met with disappointments like 9300i w/o a camera(!) & e90 w/o tv-out but in the end i´d always put my trust in the brick during its time. bricks didn´t crash as much as todays cells do imho.
