Anybody know someone working on a push email client for outlook exchange servers. It would be mighty handy!

Cheers,

hi,

if you can stand the internal email client then it supports IMAP and so does exchange. IMAP supports push. My n800 glows when I get a new email in my email account.

If you are looking for access to the Calander and contacts I would suggest installing owq-pda on the exchange server. It works well with the n800.

Email is the important part. I didn;t even try the internal mail client, I like so many other aspects of the N800 that I may put up with a certain amount of pain from the internal client. I will give it a try. Thanks.

Damian-

I can't seem to log on to the server. I have some questions:
1) Do you know the default port settings for the Exchange server (I think my company is using these but I will check).
2) Are you using SSL connections, we are?
3) Do you know if the domain is entered in the standard fashion as domain/userid?

Thanks,
Fred

Fred,

Here is what I have:

I can't seem to log on to the server. I have some questions:
1) Do you know the default port settings for the Exchange server (I think my company is using these but I will check).

Ports are 143 (non SSL) and 443 (SSL)

2) Are you using SSL connections, we are?

we don't use SSL on the server.

3) Do you know if the domain is entered in the standard fashion as domain/userid?

username@domain.com

is the standard format.

Regards
Damian

Thanks. I talked with IT and they need to enable IMAP on a per account basis. They are taking care of that for me. I am sure I will get it straightened out.

OK, I can;t get my IT department to let me in with IMAP so I am back to asking for an Outlook Push email client. Any takers?

I don't know of a push email client but I have the same problem with not being able to get anything but BB connect from my IT dept. So what I did was set up an account at mail2web.com and I forward all of my email there. Then I use IMAP to connect to this email with n800 and I connect to the same server with my E70 phone via the S60 Activesync application. I do have duplicate emails but at least it enables me to keep my mobile devices in sync and when I get back to desktop I manually fix the desktop that.
