The name for my device's memory under File Manager has mysteriously changed from "N900" to "BCM2048B0 Initialization Configuration". Is there any way to change it back?

Apologies if this has been answered before, but forum search ignores "name", which makes it difficult to look.

I believe the device name that shows up in File Manager is the one set in Settings, Bluetooth, so you could look there. Don't know why it changed for you, though.

Thanks, that's fixed it!

I recently had a play with eCoach, which turned on bluetooth to look for a heart rate monitor - so might be an eCoach bug.

BCM2048 is the name of the Bluetooth chip from Broadcom. So this string might have come from the driver, maybe something reloaded the driver.

I just encountered this problem (file name changed to 'initialization configuration'). I formatted my SD card and found my pictures and videos did not appear, so I had to move them from the SD to N900 and back. In the process, the N900 hang and the file name got changed.

Anyway, thanks for this useful thread to rename back the N900.

Use
Code:
dosfslabel /dev/mmcblk0p1 N900
as root in X-Terminal

My MyDocs folder changed to "BCM2048B0 Initialization Configuration" in file manager recently too.
My MyDocs is formatted to ext3fs... so labels don't apply there.
Changing the Bluetooth device name solved it.
