I got my 770 the other day and it's great! I have a little problem now. I loaded the star trek lcars themes. Now my status bar won't change when I change the theme. I have a nokia 770 os 2006 edition, version 3.2006.49-2.

Could someone please tell me how to reformat my 770?

Or upgrade it?

Or set it back to the factory defaults?

Could somebody please help?

Go to http://europe.nokia.com/A4144790 and download the Nokia Internet Tablet Software Updater, follow the instructions carefully and your 770 should be as good as new once the installation process is completed. I believe I'm right in thinking that this is as near as you'll get to a factory reset, it's saved my skin a few times after unsuccessfully trying to boot from MMC.

It's also worth downloading the firmware separately from http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/ for 2 reasons: 1. It makes installation a lot quicker 2. Sometimes NITSU's connection times out and can't download the firmware, by saving the firmware to your hard drive you can simply point NITSU to the appropriate .bin file

Additionally you might want to re-format the MMC card, though it shouldn't make any difference.

How did you get on?

You shouldn't have to flash/reformat your 770 to get rid of LCARS (unless something has gone wrong). Have you tried uninstalling the theme using the Application manager? Switch to another theme, uninstall LCARS, and reboot. You should get all your original graphics back.

LCARS fails to uninstall properly on the latest N800 firmware (version 4.2007.26-8) but it should work right on 770 with any version of OS 2006.
