Well, last evening my internal memory slot mysteriously disappeared *poof!*. Yes, I've confirmed that the card is okay, that it's properly seated in its moorings, the little clasp is down and the back cover is on - little magnet and all. Fact is, I haven't removed the cover in more than a week.

So I just want to confirm that there's nothing else I can try before I subject myself to the tender mercies and speedy response of Nokia's pathetic excuse for customer service and repair (they had my son's 770 for 4 MONTHS!!!).

Any ideas (he said hopefully, but suspecting the hope to be in vain)?

C.

P.S.: Was it Hell's gate that read "abandon all hope, all ye who enter here," or was it the message I saw at the Nokia repair page on their web site? Is it also true that their Director of Repair and Response is named Warren T. Yewissh? Just curious...

I have the exact same story. Last night, I picked it up to use it an noticed that the internal memory slot was 'greyed out' and having switched the cards, I know it is the slot. Ack! I've read often in these forums that the Nokia service is atrocious, so I'm not keen to send it off. Like you, I plead with readers of this thread to let me know if there is something else to be done. Truthfully, I am not optimistic, but hopeful

I too just had the same issue. Lately, my tablet had gotten really unstable. Today File manager crashed so I got my first hint maybe it was the SD cards. After reboot I noticed both internal and external were greyed out. I tested both cards and they are still functional in another system so the cards are ok. I tested each card by itself in the internal slot and all I get is no memory card inserted. I put them in the external slot and behold they appear! 3 failure now sound like more than a fluke. Anyone with debugging thoughts?
dmeg shows nothing very interesting.

since the new firmware, i have had issue after issue with the card not being write-able, even though the mount point shows as read/write enabled. oddly enough, the same exact type of card (brand, speed, capacity, etc) in the internal slot has given me no issues what so ever.

has anyone gone through this, that can offer input as to what cures this? also i have noticed that ncurses-bin is broken and many updates fail to install because of it. are they related issues? i am thinking a reflash may be required.

If you haven't already, please file a report in bugs 1204 and 1664. This bug is already listed as critical and continuing to file these kind of reports will keep it elevated until they come out with a fix.
From reading around the forums it appears there is no workaround for this issue at the present time. It seems some have tried installing a kernel that came out prior to the latest firmware with mixed results. A lot of discussion on this issue in this thread as well as a couple of others.
