The Following User Says Thank You to bunanson For This Useful Post: | ||

I am a newbie and knows, almost, nothing about Linux and I want to document this procedure step by step, so that I can follow if I have to do it again.
New from the box, my 770 was running 3.2006.49-2, then I made it boot from MMC. I cannot make Maemo Mapper work under 2006Os, then I flash to 2007He following http://dragon-gaming.com/blog/?p=9 (an excellent step by step guide) and made Maemo Mapper work (will write up a step by step soon, again for my own self sake). 2007He crashed on and off (?) so I installed back again the boot menu, now I have a choice either booting from the flash, 2007He or booting from MMC 2006Os. I have 2007He on flash and 2006Os on my 1G MMC. You got it right, I DO NOT have a 2G MMC, so I am kind of space tight. Here is how to re-install the boot menu after flash into 2007He:
I basically follow http://examplified.net/guide/Nokia_770/Resources/, another execellent step by step guide for the newbie:
In this guide, http://examplified.net/guide/Nokia_7...ting_from_MMC/,
do 1, 2, 6, 7, 8, 9, sudo gainroot, 13. Bravo, now you have your boot menu back, and boot form 2007He/flash or 2006/MMC. As always, follow this guide at your own risk, especially the flash part (a fully charged 770, no plug in etc.) Comments? Questions?
when install software, if there is a choice, I pick the one for N800, if it does not work, then I fall back to 770. This way, I get the most software base.
