I can't upgrade or remove packages due to this error. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, here is the info from x-terminal:

Remove pcsx-m, or whatever the name of the previous playstation emulator is that you installed, first.

apt-get remove pcsx-m

Thanks, but I tried that but still returning the same error with any paclage i want to remove even unrelated packages.

Perhaps you could actually post the solution you found, so that anyone else with the same issue in future can fix it as well?

I also have the same issue.. while installing Shortcutd my battery gave up, now i cant remove or install shortcutd, in settings the shortcud panel is there also...any help appriciated

ps: tried HAM/ FAM,
apt-get remove/ install/update/upgrade..etc (-f)..(in root)

seme error

dpkg: error processing shortcutd (--remove)
supbrocess pre-removal script returned error exit status 1

...etc etc

Is there any way to delete the app manually and force reinstall it ?

Try

sudo dpkg --force-remove-reinstreq "package"
Note that if this works, the system will forget about the package and perhaps leave a few files behind.

Alternatively, it can be useful to see the exact dpkg error and on the n900 I don't think this gets logged in /var/log... (may be wrong there). So, if you can find the deb in /var/cache/apt/archive/ or download it somewhere and do
Code:
sudo dpkg -i xxxxx.deb
then you might get a precise idea of why it fails...

Yeah sorry bout that, for me it was pcsx-m that was causing conflicts trying to install psx4m, and as a result caused an error when trying to remove or install other packages. I had to remove psx4m, it allowed me to do that, then remove pcsx-m then install psx4m again. sorry for neglecting to post solution. Thanks for pointing that out Rob1n

Hey Guys,

I m facing the same problem.. I tried to install preenv, tried to do autoremove as well... but i m getting the same error.

E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

please help me out to give me the steps for solving this problem..
