Hi guys, I need some help with my n900.

Just recently opera mobile stopped working for me, so I decided to uninstall it and install it again, however when I try through the app manager I get an unable to install error. When I try through X-terminal I get a "Stale NFS file handle" error.

There is a thread I found here on how to fix it, however it is out dated and I am wondering of there is any other ways of fixing this error?
something more simpler perhaps?

Has anybody else come across this error?

Yes, I have come across the error. It went away on its own. Patience, my friend.

What is your reasoning to call the thread, that fixed it, 'outdated'???

The 'Stale NFS file handle'-error is far older than the N900 itself. If the procedure of the fix is too complex for your linux skills, your only way is the self-healing the N900 is able of. Reboot once a day and probably some days from now the system did the file system check done. That is, if you are patient enough to let it boot on one of those days really boot slowly.

'Outdated' as in the sense that the thread is two years old, and since that thread, there have been advancements with BootMenu and recovery menu, not to mention newer versions of the power kernel. which could have all led to easier ways to fix this problem.

Well there is little a modernized kernel, still based on 2.6.28, could do for the file system tools mkfs.ext3
Code:
 mke2fs 1.41.3.maemo0 (12-Oct-2008)
	Using EXT2FS Library version 1.41.3.maemo0
and fsck
Code:
fsck 1.41.3.maemo0 (12-Oct-2008)
e2fsck 1.41.3.maemo0 (12-Oct-2008) based on the maemo system
So exporting the partition to a capable Linux-PC is the best option
Code:
fsck from util-linux 2.20.1
e2fsck 1.42.8 (20-Jun-2013)
mke2fs 1.42.8 (20-Jun-2013)
	Benutze EXT2FS Library version 1.42.8
Those 5 years are ages in computer evolution.

The guys from cssu (I think it was Freemangordon) picked up the issue of the old e2fsprogs tools. Version 1.42.5-1.1maemo1 can be found in cssu-devel (containing fsck 1.42.5 (29-Jul-2012))
