My N9 is essentially dead after I got a humidity problem on the outside. It switches on including the vibration, showing the logo, but then the bootloader reboots again. When using the flasher there are two abnormalities: flasher -i does not find a serial number and trying to flash the phone get's an error 7 in SU_GET_PARAMETER_REQ, "Unable to get SU_PARAM_BATTERY_LEVEL".

Obviously the battery logic is damaged. I ordered a brand new battery and put it into the phone, now I don't need the charger connected to boot up, so the battery's power is connected to the main board, but the error persists.

I cleaned the main board and everything else with isopropyl alcohol.

When I opened the phone the first time after the damage, I found white remainants around the battery area, the battery itself looking normal. The main board had now traces of liquid at all.

Is there hope for the device? Some sort of fuse I can replace? Some flasher-tricks to restore functionality? (I had inception installed but did not use it for anything.)




Full story leading to it: Waking up one morning the phone was lying on a wet surface, display down, the phone itself wet on the outside. I immediatly turned it off, wiped it and put it upright into the morning sun to dry. Half an hour later I noticed that the leds were on full power. It was not possible to switch off the device. I then put the phone into a heap of rice and waited for a day.

batery broken. go to nokia care.

Battery definitely works.

Nokia Care doesn't exist anymore here, at least not under what I understand by "care".

I called the next one, they stated that they would send in the device anyway and that Nokia would send them back unrepaired without any repair offer because of the humidity damage.

DIY solution will help only, but thanks for the suggestion.

I also I have the same problem, I need to know if anyone has managed to fix it.

Disconnect the proximity sensor. Then try to flash/boot/run your N9. I found out that the proximity sensor was the cause on three N9 to cause the SU_PARAM_BATTERY_LEVEL error message.

If it works after disconnecting the proximity sensor, you have to find out yourself what is the reason why it doesn't work with it. I'm not sure if there's a general issue, but I hardly can believe it broke on three devices just like that.

Well water is funny thing with electronics, really.

The technology today is such that even a small amount of moisture in the wrong place WILL KILL your device, with a reasonable odds.

How it works; when water or moisture gets into the device there will always be small current running thru the damp surfaces, between PCB tracks close to each other, unless the water is distilled and absolutely pure. (and that wont ever be the case since as you have used & held the device in your hand there is always small amount of salts&stuff on the device itself)

The tracks on the PCB are so close to each other and so thin that even the minuscule current caused by the damp surfaces will electrocorrode something in few hours. AND this action will continue even when you switch the device off, as long as the battery is present in the device.

The only way to fix this, is to immediately open the device and remove the battery before trying to dry the device up any way.

I can tell you: Have the proximity sensor replaced. It breaks very very easily and causes problems. To find out if your device is still fine, just don't connect any proximity sensor. If it boots up properly, have the proximity sensor replaced and things will go on smoothly.

And yes, all the devices I had which were having this "SU_PARAM_BATTERY_LEVEL" message when trying to flash were suffering from a damaged proximity sensor. Sad, but true.

So be very careful when opening the device to replace the case for example. The proximity sensor doesn't take much to break.

First of all sorry to start a new thread guys but i have searched the forums and facebook and ended with nothing.

I have come with great hope to this forum.... I have a Nokia N9.
A couple of days back one of my friends installed Andriod on it and it slowed down the phone so he tried to flash it and used meego on it for a day and suddenly it stopped working and now its just doesnt seem to start. Whenever i Connect the phone to the PC the charging light comes on and as soon I take out the cable the light goes of. I have tried to flash the phone my self through windows flasher and I get the below error (see screenshot)

below is the extract from the error message
"ERROR: SU_GET_PARAMETER_REQ terminated with error code 7: Object not found
ERROR: Unable to get SU_PARAM_BATTERY_LEVEL
ERROR: Begin update failed
ERROR: Failed to flash images"

Now i searched online and a lot of people say that it could be a problem with the proximity sensor. Now before I go to a mechanic i need to know if there is anything lese that i can try since Nokia India wont even touch the phoen cause it was never even launched in India and was bought overseas. Also will using Phoenix software to flash the phone help ... If anyone could guide me it would really be helpful. I need to bring this wonderful phone back to life and install sailfish on it > Guys need your input

For sure you refer to this thread. And that is the only one I know of that specific problem.
Another one here is different but its solution is worth a try, too.
So proceed with disassembly and dis-/connect battery and/or check proximity...
