Hello, I've installed JRE on my N900 and now I want to open .jar files. Now I must to do it through terminal (java -jar /home/user/MyDocs/12345.jar) but I want to run them by clicking on them in File manager. Is it possible? Thanks.

Does File Manager not ask you what do you want to set as a default application for this file type?

If you don't mind me hijacking the thread, I would like to expand the question to how to do this generically for any file type. For example, I have uninstalled Osso Notes and replaced it with Leafpad. Now tapping on a .txt file prompts File Manager to ask me what the default application is but Leafpad is about the only one not on the list.

I have found info on how to replace certain existing associations (e.g. Media Player -> OMP) but not how to create new ones.

So, I was "googling" and I tried to do java.desktop file in /usr/share/applications/hildon with some text inside and it was working for a moment but then I broke it. (I didn't save it before) I can't get it working again.
