Is there anyway to record the FM broadcast on this unit?

Hmmm... On the same note, is it possible to record the internet radio stream as well? That would be useful to me for when I am not connected to the net...

Just change the mixer settings. I compiled aumix for this purpose. Unfortunately, I believe the best quality the n800 can record is 8khz mono, so it's essentially useless if you want to record music.

There's streamripper. It's not available on the tablet, and I just tried to compile it - it needs OGG support, and libmad, which gave me problems before, so probably not going to be available (from me anyway) anytime soon!

I do use streamripper on the desktop, though, and copy to the tablet. Works well.

<Rant>You'd think that on a linux device, it would be trivial to include OGG, Flac, and other open-format support by default in the media player. Nokia, are you listening!?</rant>

There's supposedly some sort of enhanced gstreamer plug-in system coming in a future release of the OS to help with this problem, but in the mean time, please vote for bug 176, if you haven't already.
