Well if that's true, the onscreen kb needs to be better than what I witnessed earlier tonight - a woman quickly typing a text on her HTC Android whatever, and it was awful to watch. It took her forever and she made mistakes all the time. That will be me if the N9 comes without kb. Therefore, not for me.

I have a question. Under the battery, how many exposed screws can you count?

Haven't read the last 30 or so pages.
But yes, I can now confirm this as well. Everything about the consumer device was new to me, until some minutes ago. All I knew was about the developer device.
There'll be the developer device, which will be distibuted to.. well.. developers^^ For example at the MeeGo Conference (if they didn't changed plans in the last 48 hours).
It's not thrown away money, because it was already produced some time ago and since then it's in Nokias warehouse.
The teaser is neither thrown away money, because the device has to be presented to the community in any way.
It wasn't sold (selling it commercially was the initial plan) because someone decided the OS wasn't ready. That is (among others) also the reason why some high Nokia employees quit their jobs some time ago. (Best regards, if you're reading this, still miss you)

The consumer device won't get a keyboard. It will have better hardware (developer: 1Ghz A8 (but newer production process than the N900, therefore lower battery consumption and higher performance) consumer: Dual Core ST Ericsson). That doesn't mean that the developer device does have bad hardware. I think it's a really amazing and well built device.

edit: btw. I'm in San Francisco atm. Sorry in advanced, probably I can't comment here as much as I'd like to.

Thanks for the processor spec. I wasn't too sure of what it was running inside myself. Whatever it is , very smooth UI.

no hardware keyboard lol.... if this is true, this is truly a DILBERT(tm) moment....

this thing runs a deadend (to Nokia) OS that only hobbiests and devs will care about - it has no ecosystem in place, no app big market and no future with Nokia - you think joe 6p pack will give a **** about this phone ? Normal users want apps and support - they dont want to use some niche OS where they have to do (even with community support) everything themselves ...

yet the hardware kb is removed to appeal to j6p.... And as shown in this thread the devs/hobbiests who are the biggest evangelists for this OS are also the ones that WANT the keyboard... yet these guys are now the ones most disappointed because they now have to be part of some exclusive "dev" group to get it....

LMAO - this is Fail Blog entry of the year (tm)

No wonder Nokia is going down the tubes - who the fvck makes these stupid decisions.

Seriously - when the biggest market for this phone is going to be your hobbiest/devs who desperate WANT a FOSS OS, you remove from the phone one of the MAIN features wanted by this market segment... to appeal to another market segment that has NO interest in this OS.....

W T F

I cant stop laughing - this is the biggest joke...

ha ha ha ha

Wait with judging the system until you see it.

The consumer doesn't care about the OS. Even a grandma of a friend of mine is using the N900 and is a happy user.
