how many SD cards you are using, and what capacity?

If you are using two cards, try to remove one card and use the bigger card and see if it downloads.

I have 4GB cards in both. I guess it might just be very slow and the progress is not being updated. I am trying to download the USA East maps. I guess I'll leave it overnight and see what happens.

Ha, I tried it overnight, and about 20 to 25% in the transfer just stalled. Nokia, if you're listening, this app is worthless if you don't have map data! You're going to have to make a sideloading desktop app like the Nokia Maps Loader, (i.e. something that can support resumable transfers), or at the very least let us manually download the zip/tar/whatev and copy it to the SD card over USB. Downloading 700-odd megs directly to the tablet was a *terrible* idea.

I downloaded the maps on the leaked os2008, and it took me I guess about less than an hour to download All USA and Canada.

Maybe the servers are quite slow at this time as u know what happened when people were downloading the official *release* of OS2008, it was only 128MB and there servers were getting dam slow.

I would say wait for atleast a week or so and then try to download the maps again.

Hope that Helps.

I've had the same problem and now Maps won't even start !
Well it starts then get killed before doing anything visible and starting navicore from xterm doesn't give me any clue on what's going on ...
May be it has loaded some part of the maps and cannot figure out where it is on the download now ...
I'll try and clean my Memory Cards from the downloads if I can find it and see if it helps ...
Any hint welcome !
Fred

Also, beware that you need about 2x the size of the maps in free space (for unpacking, I assume?) or it won't download. I had issues with it freezing, so moved all my stuff to the external card, downloaded, and then moved the stuff back.

P.S. Once the maps are downloaded, the app finds them on either internal or external card.

I think it's a server issue. If you download a smaller map like Greece or Russia the download goes through. Must be demand and bandwidth issue.

NOKIA, please provide an alternate means of loading these maps. 700mgs of data on a wireless tablet is cruel

Yeah, like others said, I think they're having the same (or at least similar) bottleneck issues with transfers that the beta firmware download is having. If they're working with a CDN for their transfers... might be time to fire them. :P
