I also sent him a potential fix and will post here if it goes according to the comments in the bug tracker suggests it will.
Extremely glad that I got my N900 back on track, I was thinking of changing it lately.

This is what I did on my N900 as per the instructions given by Reffyyyy;
1) Run xterminal and "sudo gainroot"
2) "cd /home/user/.osso/"
3) "mv dictionaries olddics"
4) Restart your phone

when your phone starts hanging or getting warm It's hildon-desktop problem. Anyways on what version are you pr1.3 or pr1.2
