aye, so does my N900, I was hoping that this might be a decent upgrade. This is where I don't get Nokia, both the N8 and E7 support HDMI out as well as USB on the go why shouldn't an even more expensive phone? I'm bothered that I'm being forced to choose between a rather slow, memory lacking phone aka N8 or not having the same connectivity on a faster phone it just doesn't serve the customer at all.

For my car? No thanks... I already have speakers.

I have duly applied for one today. The terms are described as 'loan', so I'm wondering if that is a 'we want it back' loan or a 'nudge, nudge, wink, wink, no need to rush sending it back' type of 'loan'. I'm not familiar with these kind of developer device programs.

To be honest, I would have preferred that Nokia distributed some devices via the Meego Coding Competion, where the merit of a developer's work is judged by users/other developers. I'm not entirely comfortable with being 'gifted' a device by some Nokia guy. It gives me the uneasy feeling of being in Nokia's back pocket.

I'm sure I'll change my mind if I get one. Then it will be 'Hail Nokia!'

Why do people always look at products from their point of view?

I have seen lot of posts saying what the N9 hasn't and not promoting what it has.

Do you think that Nokia has targeted the N9 with the same intentions as with the N900?

N900 was a gift from Nokia in the pre-MicroSoft era.

Because those people are Nokia's customers and lately Nokia has been shedding those customers rather quickly. It just may behoove them to pay them some attention.

I'll even expound. Most people are buying based on comparisons with competing manufactures and OS's. If Nokia keeps releasing "premium" devices at premium costs without premium hardware people most likely aren't going to bite.

The average client who wants a easy to use smart phone has either gone or is going with apple and it's Nokia's hope that they'll also go with Microsoft's phone 7. People who are still undecided are going to want something that can match the competition at the same price.

You may point out that the iphone wasn't always the latest in technology but where the iphone usually fell back on was processor speed or ram and even then not by much. in area's like their screen were they were obviously deficient they came back and smoked the competition. Where they've fallen back they've been either quick to catch up or surpass the competition when they do. The beauty of Apple is they've always known where to cut and where to add on to. but within apples product line you almost never ended up with a product that does less than it's lower priced equivalent.

Having said that, I don't want a iphone or an android phone. I would like to get the next Maemo/Meego phone but I'm left stumped wondering why, after almost 2 years, this is almost an upgrade and almost not. This N9 is not a mid tier priced device. I expect it to also have the equivalent functionalities of other equivalently priced phones and at the very least important functionalities that mid tiered priced devices have.

This isn't about wanting the fastest phone in the world and not being happy because specs aren't all above the rest. but this about wondering why Nokia is asking such a pretty penny for a product that doesn't have the very useful functions that they've included in their other products. Functions that really could have been added easily and not added much to the cost or size of this phone.

Has it occurred to you that that's just what they are doing with the N9?

Ok here is another quick question about the N9, it takes a micro sim. So I have an old school plan with AT&T on my N900 and they think I have some old samsung phone with data, and they haven't changed it yet, so I am paying something like 9.99 for unlimited data. There is no way in hell I'm going to them asking for a micro sim and having my plan all changed up. So is there a process to clone a regular sim onto a micro sim, or is there a way to mod the sim (by cutting it) to a compatible micro sim?

Wait for somebody that really knows, but i believe you can cut it. So i have heard.

My microsim looks exactly same as the normal one, chip is same size, but the plastic around it is almost nonexistent.

Isn't it just a matter of cutting the extra plastic of the sim card carefully?

Saw in some forums that a lot of carriers offer microsims upon request - because of the iPhone/iPad flood, I believe.

Shallimus, lots of quotes going around so I can understand if you hadn't read my previous posts. This isn't about terminals, geeks, hardware keyboards or monster specs. This complaint was merely about why they couldn't have added HDMI out to a device the supports HDMI playback, as well as USB, on the go. Of course, these are features I was personally hoping to see, features I might add, that are on Nokias' other newish mass marketed phones. I also agree that for others perhaps they would have preferred a dual core chip or higher rez screen. Even then, why not? This doesn't make it a geek phone just a competitive one. If Samsung, LG, Sony and Apple for even less mula can provide this? Why not Nokia? There is some basic mass market functionality being left out here that really didn't have to be. Thats all
