probably asked but I didn't found it

so, I have a HG655b modem that is provided with a ftp usb port. My intention is cu cd in that usb (by root, ftp) and to mplayer the video files on my N900 from the ftp. The ftp has a user and a password. Is there any possibility to do that?

It sounds as though you're looking for something like CurlFtpFS. I believe FUSE and libcurl are both available on Fremantle already, so it should be possible.

You could try:
Code:
mplayer [options] ftp://user:pass@www.xxx.yyy.zzz/directory/movie.avi

I recommend playing around with options (and checking Google) a bit before giving up. I don't use mplayer, so I don't have any more detailed suggestions, but the mplayer docs say it can play videos from HTTP URLs, and to me that implies there's likely FTP support also.

Is the download link compatible with arm or do we need to compile it?
If so.. can you guide us through compiling it and installing?

[EDIT] ok, trying to build it. Installed make but don't have a source from which to install gcc....
