try to charge the battery with external charger .
It was pretty full.

Should the phone start with battery off, plugged to a wall-charger?

I have tried that and like said above, only thing it does is flash led as orange for a second when I plug charger in. No Nokia logo, nothing on screen, not that small vibration it normally gives when you put it on.

I had a similar problem, just leave it connected to the charger for sometime, remove the charger and try to reboot..

It should not boot or run without a battery.

Brief orange flashes are error indicator from the battery charging chip.

Not enough information there because what you have installed prior to the fault occuring will be the reason it has shut itself down on you.

The N900 will not boot if there is no battery, it will only give one flash of the LED as orange (as you mentioned). If the battery is completely dead, it may not charge, in which case you will need to use an external battery charger. Nokia doesn't make any for the N900, I used a hobby charger when this happened to me. Or if you have another phone that uses the same battery (such as the n95 I think) you can use that to charge it in.

Just tried it with a different battery and nothing. Also tried if it would flash but nothing. Gonna take it to repair shop some day now and see what they'll do to it.

Thanks for all the ideas though!
