I tested this on the N810, running OS2008. My N800 works normally running OS2008.

I cannot take this Kamasutra G-spot magic seriously. I have tried "poking around with my stylus looking for the G-spot", just to make sure, and it does not help a bit. I am a believer of "the software is the problem" theory.

I do not believe this is a software issue at all, as I experienced the issue right out of the box with a brand new unit. I was pulling my hair out in frustration with my apparently dead n810, and then I just pressed the g-spot with the stylus and it sprang to life. Beautiful unit, just beautiful... I love it.

An 800 user should post a photo too if a variation of this solution works around the testy power button issue on your unit as well.

Note from further testing: If the unit has recently been powered off, it may not start back up again immediately. Try again in couple minutes. No plugging or unplugging, no battery in or out, just give it a couple minutes and then hold the magic spot for a couple seconds.

Note from further further testing: I just tried it flipped over 180 degrees from what my photo shows, and it fired up successfully.

I would like a new power button and instructions on how to install it, Nokia. Anyone else?

Ochrenaut, you are just pulling our leg here:

1. Looking at the picture, I see that although you are touching the G-spot, the device is still off (no led, no Nokia logo on the screen.

2. I cannot reproduce this and it would surprise me if anybody else can (anybody out there?)

3. Your method would suggest that you also would have to use the g-spot to turn the device off normally, since you claim that the button does not work when you just use your finger, or there are indeed two switches under the button, one of which is the mysterious touch-my-G-spot-to-turn-me-on-switch.

1. Nope, it definitely works for me time and time again.

2. I was ready to send my unit in for repair after owning it for just two hours, but once I tried the stylus to the edge of the power button technique I was able to turn it on.

3. I used it all evening, even showing it off to amazed coworkers at a party, keeping it on the whole time.

4. When I returned home late tonight, I turned it off on purpose to test the power-on technique again. Turning it off DID NOT require special precision with the stylus, but it is easier than using my finger.

5. I repeated the off and then on again cycle three times over the course of an hour just now, and the last time it wasn't working so I rotated it 180 degrees and tried again successfully.

6. I don't think it is cool that I have to do this to get my n810 turned on, but I doubt I will send it in for warranty repair unless there is a notice from Nokia stating that they have improved the operation of the power button by replacing this particular style of button with a more robust one.
