It's looking alright for the near future for S^3 devices. Not too shabby

Where did you get those dates from? A 2 and 7 year gap between updates... on a smartphone??!!!

The Anna update available now using Ovi suite in the UK... I updated on 24/08/2011!

Moreover, Belle is set for release before the end of 2011... if Nokia doesn't screw up... again!

Still assessing Anna, but I like the new portrait touch screen qwerty keyboard.

After living with the E7 for a few weeks I've been pleasantly surprised by how well it's replaced my N900.

The only thing that's missing that I used regularly on my N900, is Skype video calls

Same here mate. But I did find video calls worked with FRING (free download from Ovi Store). It's not as good as the N900 because that baby had Skype built-in and was just *easy*.

But it IS possible and not too complicated. Glad you're enjoying the E7, it's going to get better and better with Anna then Belle

I got sent an E7 as well but I want my N900!!!

I'm particularly REALLY annoyed as Nokia customer care UK called me to say they may have to replace the N900 with an E7 and I told them I didn't want ANY other current Nokia handset except for the N900.

I was still using my N900, but the USB connector had failed (charging battery with a desktop charger) and was happy to have the handset back as well!

Now i've been downgraded from Meamo to Symbian.

I already own an N8 - what am I going to do with the E7 as well - how stupid!
It's not even sealed to sell as brand new!

I'm super annoyed +++

I've sent them an e-mail - will have to see what happens.

Has anybody had success with getting an N900 back in the last few weeks?
If so how did you do it?

You can't really blame Nokia, it's not like they would start manufacturing an old model just because your phone's dead. However, you could ask them if you can have your n900 back as well so you can try to open it up and repair it yourself

This made me think

What would nokia do with all the broken handsets sent to them? Recycled? Is it possible we buy returned broken handsets back for a cheaper price? Still recycling if you ask me.

I did ask them for the handset back. I told them I would prefer to put up with a broken usb and charge the battery using my desktop battery charger rather than have an e7 before they even received the n900. They told me they have sent it to be 'scrapped' already, even though I called them straight away after getting the e7. They called me before I sent it in having registered the repair online and said that as they didn't have many n900 in stock anymore they were sending out e7s instead which I told them I did not want. They have really upset me -ok I'm not going to cry or anything but after having a lengthy conversation with them I feel like I've been tricked and wish I'd never sent it in.
