i really don't have luck my phone boots when i connect it with the pc and then says that usb device is not recognised :S so i'm screwed :/
edit: it was faulty usb port that i'm using. now it's time for some estetic mods. i will post pics of my work when it will be finished

Why would you say that? Epoxy applied to the sides of the connector before it breaks is helpful, as long as none gets in the receptacle.

It's highly questionable that epoxy sticks to the green solderstop varnish ([edit] http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...7&postcount=32 http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...3&postcount=20 [/edit]). Epoxy also is way more elastic than solder so the solderjoints probably will get no support from even huge amounts of epoxy applied to an intact receptacle. And finally the odds are that you'll need to redo the soldering eventually, and then the epoxy will be a huge mess and probably prevents any further repair work on the whole thing.
The pictures there http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php...991#post547991 definitely show a magnitudes smarter way to reinforce the USB receptacle, and you'd think no additional epoxy could improve the result of that :-D

And something else: did anybody experienced the problem, that solder got into the socket and plugging something in was impossible? (I used a lot solder, for a good attachment) That has broken at least two USB sockets for me, and I had a lot of work to get it off again.. After that I used a connector plugged in, surrounded with a piece of kapton tape. That worked, but almost broke my socket. Any better solutions?

It seemed to me that N900 won't power up at all without battery, so I'm really wondering what you all are talking about when you suggest to insert battery

Well, I'd use silicone oil or - even better - graphite (pencil works really great) instead of kapton, otherwise I'd say you've chosen the optimal method

I thought flashing is possible without battery, but then I'm wrong.

Nah, just cover the outside of the plug with a thin film of oil or paint it with the pencil so it's evenly covered with graphite, then plug the plug into the socket
