There is no Philippine variant if you look on the list and I really want to wow my new wife. I don't want to be like, "well umm I really wish it was released over here and I know I promised I was going to give you my LG G2x but uhm,.... I really can't now because..etc.."

lame.

I want everything to go right, the rings, the vacation spots we will visit, our friendship/courtship.
Their family is really helping me out over here right after I got laid off.

Since the variant list does not contain a Philippine variant I do not believe it will be released there and even if it was it will be too late. I leave the 17th October.

I suggest you fly to BKK first then get a flight to your destination from there then you will have no problems getting the N9.

I was going to buy it. But all the indications are that software sucks again
No issues on my phone, except a router issue ive had with other phones too, so thats nothing new.

Plenty of people complaining about issues with email and wifi. N9 is another NOKIA fail
I seem to recall that MfE may not sync through cable since theres no ovi suite for the N9, only nokia link.

Normal email like hotmail and gmail works much better on the n9 than the sgs2 and the n8 its ridicolous.

Would you or anyone else who's bought the N9 check the software version and images are available for it? need an imie of an N9 to check what versions are available for download? well how do you reflash it if you need to.
I have no idea how i check what images are available for it at all.

The SW version info is 10.2011.34-1.320.01.2_PR_320.

Check out the N9 email problem thread
Again, no email problems here. Maybe some issues with syncinc MfE through cable out of the box. Its reported to nokia and theyre working on it last I heard.

Why would you buy a device for $900 that can't even do email properly?
Why would anyone buy a device which doesnt multitask with a snap? why would anyone buy a device that doesnt allow you to flash another OS? etc etc etc.

Again: no trouble with mail here.

For some reason my original post got put on block. Anyways, lets see if this works.

Thought I'd just pass on the info. from up here in Canada. I got word from Negri Electronics in the States that their stock of N9s should be in next week (already place my preorder ) and may still have room for a few more preorders. They ship up north, but using FedEx Int. Economy ($58 shipping for me). Their charging $705 USD, but looks like they only have 16GBs.

Also heard back from my preorder with Expansys Canada that they don't know when their stock is arriving...case anyone else was holding their breath.

Cheers.

Edit:
Just remembered their search system is messy, use Advanced Search with SKU NOKN900 to pull them up. Looks like I can't post links.

Ive decided to rock my N9 black 16gb until january, when I will consider getting a magenta 64gb if the price is right. (Not a reference.)

Few QUICK QUESTIONs for the developers here:

- Possible to add a User Agent changer to the browser?

- Possible to add FB notifications to the Feedscreen like SMS/Calls/Email?

Any of this possible to do?

Also: perhaps expand on the pulldownmenu thing up top, include a few switches, maybe a brightness bar like on maemo5, possibly a mobile data network toggle for trips abroad?

I believe it would have to be a separate application. Anyway it is possible to do it so an app could be made (there is none at the moment)

@ slai

Thank you for your information on the N9 so far.

One thing that worries me is the ergonomics in taking pictures with one hand via a software shutter (eg while driving on a bicycle) I do that a lot. And it works well with a N8 or N900.

iPhone 4S: you can now use the volume up button as a shutter when the iPhone is in landscape mode
http://infospace.ischool.syr.edu/201...ures-and-more/

I m not going to buy an iPhone but if the N9 would not allow for HW shutter anywhere soon , that would be a real let-down.

How is camera operation? Any customisation for HW Shutter possible?

Might be workable for someone else but not for me. I was a factory worker remember? I don't have money to add extra stops I shouldn't even be buying this N9. Besides I already paid for it to the Denmark guy on ebay. This phone better be good because I'm probably going to be using it for the next 2 years.

Thailand is indeed in a somewhat flight path towards Philippines. Normally the planes you take to the Phils as far as I know is Philippine airlines or Korea airlines.

Im sure theres no problem developing a way to use the volumerocker keys for taking pictures, or maybe the lockkey.

No way to set hardware shutter key in default camera, sorry

Fingers crossed some developer overlord can hack or program a HW shutter button in it. If not I will be back whining about my uninformed impulsive purchase and curse Elop for "this beautiful industrial" design (read cheap and easy to produce plastic concept to align resources towards my end of CEO bonus)
