So it looks like we won't have folders on the app menu homescreen officially from Nokia for a while. Personally this is the "feature" of PR1.2 that I most miss right now.

How easy would it be for one of our resident code wizards to implement this in the meantime as an app/hack? If the UI is closed does this mean that in fact, unlike with the N900, we are dependent on Nokia for this? (I already know that custom features/icons in the status bar is impossible for us to implement ourselves, unlike in the case of the N900.)

I do not have an N9, but did you look into /usr/share/applications/hildon? If it still uses .desktop files, I think something like cartorise or AppMeFo is not impossible.
Also the thread is in the wrong section, first I thought you were talking about N900

Perhaps you'd like to post this on the Harmattan forum. For a moment I thought I was living in the past (Maemo5, folders, PR1.2..)
