Hi there,

I've looked and can't find a post with my problem. My N900 died while I was using it. No the battery is not dead, infact it was full. Now it won't switch on our connect for me to reflash it. I've taken everything out (battery, sim and mini sd card) and still it won't work. Has anyone else had this issue and solved it?

I'm not a total boffin with coding so if that is needed please explain it to me as simply as possible

Thanks for any help anyone might give me.

First of all, what happens when you press on the power button, is there any activity on the phone? screen light up or nokia logo, or 5 dots?

Also, can you try to plug the charger and tell what happens? if it light up then vibrate then shut down and do that on loop, it is the battery which is totally empty. And you will have to let it charge at least for a day.

Most-probably bootloader has gone. Try to cold-flash

While easy said, it is a bit tricky. You should:

1. Start the flasher with options for cold flash
2. Remove the battery from your n900
3. Connect usb-cable
4. Put the battery back

If the flashing does not start remove the battery and put it back. repeat until needed.

I had the same problem. Nokia care provided a new phone!

I would exercise caution over nokia care providing one another N900 as a replacement. There were numerous threads of broken N900 being replaced with either N8/E7 which they claim it is equivalent in terms of functionality *cough*BS*cough* to N900.

Always check the fine prints, if in doubt with their terms and conditions, make sure they can clarify for you and try to get their statements in writing that they will replace you with a real N900.

Of course this is only useful if your N900 is still within warranty.
