Hey y'all, long time lurker. I've searched the forums, tried all the steps given when others are stuck in loops, but to no avail.

My N900 is stuck in a reboot loop. I get the vibrate-Nokia-black screen-vibrate-Nokia... until the battery dies some six hours later. Fortunately, I invested in a desktop charger and spare batteries months ago.

I've only got access to a Windows 7 netbook, (it's got it's own idiosyncrasies, and will not boot off a USB key) and the Flasher gets stuck on "No Suitable Device found"

Any help? Kinda need mah phone.

Edit: It's only a fresh restore, since about last Friday. The Early November security update and Kernel-Power v49 don't play well together on this specific phone for some unusual reason, but I think it got installed when I installed Hostmode about eight hours before it got stuck in a loop.

Follow the wiki and use the latest libusb for win32 (grab it off the Sourceforge page.) You no longer need to disable device driver signing (it's signed with a developer certificate)

And if it still doesn't work, you may need to set and unset RD mode.

Faded screen and USB connected logo... then it reboots (vibrate, faded nokia logo, no connected logo) and starts cycling again.

@hurrian i did not see anything in that bug report about being able to enable rd mode with windows ...i didnt think that was possible, do you know which comment that is? I'd like to know for myself

@ grey ghost by fresh restore do you mean reflash? was it done with that machine? and possibly maybe the usb cable is f'd and is not making a data connection but only suppling power.

Yes, I mean reflash, and it's the same cable I used last week. It's just something funny with this phone, USB HEN, Kernel-Power 49 and the November update, which is why I did it last week.

Hmm, well... Apparently throwing chicken bones over your left shoulder does work (I was feeding my pet rats )

I managed to get it to respond to the flasher program, and rewrote both the rootfs and the eMMC, just in case. I think it was entirely a random event, it just hooked at the right spot.

Now, third time's the charm?

If your cable or USB port is about to go, that would explain the need for chicken bones, but it might not keep working.
