Edit: the UPnP access is a documented "feature" of OS2008. But there are still problems with the detecting of these devices after DISCONNECTING and reconnecting the WiFi.

Follow-up to my previous post...

After DISCONNECTING and LOCKING SCREEN for a while and re-connecting and unlocking, File Manager doesn't see the network shares anymore.

They did come back after a Shutdown/Reboot, though.

After more experimenting....

I am convinced that File Manager needs a REFRESH command.

While looking at other devices, there appears to be no way other than exiting and restarting to make File Manager refresh the contents of a directory. (i.e. a change in the remote directory is not seen on the N800 even after simply changing directories).
