anyone able to get this to tether properly with the particular service and device?

I was initially successful and had it connected but the data signal bummed out after about a minute. and then, it took me forever to redo do the tethering by resetting both devices numerous times. but, somehow, it gives a 'internet connection failed' 99% of the time.

Not possible. Blackberries have an incompatible bluetooth stack from what I have read. If you need to tether your N810, you will need to get a different phone.

I was able to successly connect to my AT&T/Cingular Nokia 9300 via Bluetooth and get web access for my N800.

Funny thing, though, after I DISCONNECTED the WEB, Bluetooth was still active, but the N800 couldn't see the folders in File Manager on the 9300. I had to shutdown the Bluetooth and restart the connection for it to see the folders again.

I must be an exception then I've got a CDMA blackberry 8130 from Telus (Canada) that I use to tether via bluetooth all the time without any problems during or post. In fact, it was easier to setup to tether and much more reliable than my old phone, a ppc 6700.

Interesting. Perhaps the incompatibility is fixed in BB OS 4.3, which I believe the newer Pearls run. My Pearl 8100 definitely doesn't like to tether with N810.
