I just got my N810 out of the box and have been told by a few people that I should update the OS first. I thought this could be done through the software update thing right on the N810 but apparently that isn't the case. Where do I get the update?

Congrats on your N810. There is a link (bottom of article) of the newest N810 firmware on this article: http://www.internettablettalk.com/20...os2008-update/

You can then do a manual update via the wizard.

Thanks Reggie, I actually came across that file and downloaded it to the N810 thinking it was an app for it.

Folks:
I downloaded the image directly to the N810. Is there a way to update it from N810, without connecting it to a PC?

No, you can't overwrite the rootfs using data on the rootfs.

Hi,
I guess I will have to bite the bullet and us the PC (MS ) wizard.
I don't yet want to risk converting it to a brick in the first week by trying a linux upgrade.

Is there a linux based upgrade wizard?

BTW, I stored the image on the memory card. That probably does not help.

Thanks.

I received my N800 yesterday from Buy.com. I had OS 2007, not OS 2008. I was able to connect N800 to my laptop after 2 tries and download after two tries. The full download was about 30 mins. ( program claims 20 mins) Remember to hold down the home button till the usb icon is on.
