After upgrading to PR1.2 I started receiving popup tips in when using the Swype keyboard. These tips tell me that I don't have to press space manually, press shift to capitalize starting letters in a sentence or that I can swype from a punctuation mark to space in order to have it inserted. All good tips but after seeing them several times everyday I have gotten a bit tired of them, they often cover the text that I am writing so I that can't read it.

Anyone know of a way to disable them? I have tried searching the net without finding anything. I tried enabling the extra settings in /usr/share/swype/data/SwypeConfig.ini but none of the new options seemed to affect this.

Try setting ShowToastTips to 0 in ~/.swype/settings.ini

Thank you, that did the trick. I missed the configuration file in the home directory.

Wait... in my root, I don't have a .swype.

Am I missing something?

Get nano from the Ovi store. It's free, worth it.

Can someone thrown out a quick step by step for this please? I'm sure many users would find it useful, including myself. It's the one thing about Swype that does my head in.

Assume that the reader has no knowledge of command line functions. Is it done through terminal then Pico/nano?
