Mmmmm, tried installing the new file but it choked repeatedly with 'installation interrupted'. Not a big deal from my point of view - the beta reinstalled without a hitch

You should change the behavior of it to make it less frequent changing when loosing signal or crossing cells.

ProfileMatic should already work as you specified. Do you use Default rule? Does your rules with location by cell id have any other conditions?

- Entering elevator, no cell signal -> normal profile is activated. This shouldn't actually happen. The code is supposed to work like you said, if connection is lost there is no re-evaluation of rules. Unless you have some other conditions besides location by cell id in that rule, like WLAN? If this is really happening with only location by cell id, I need debugging output when it happens to determine what's going on.
In case 2:
- Here too the code is supposed to work like you said already - if the current cell id is in the active rule, there is no action done. But flip flopping between rules is possible if not all cell ids have been collected. Maybe you have not actually collected all the cells in this area. There's surprising amount of them in some areas, and it takes a bit of time to collect them all.
There has been feature request for adding a "timeout" for location by cell id, like in WLAN, which might help in areas with lots of cell ids where it can temporarily switch to some other cell id not contained in rules.

I think the previous version might have a problem with post installation script when run in some contexts. I've removed the problematic commands. Removing previous version (if it's not installed from Nokia Store) should not be needed.

Why, scripts are cool? But seriously, maybe it is not so uncommon, and I'll certainly keep tab on how much it is requested.
The reasons I'm not immediately including it are (but may eventually):
- It can be easily scripted
- The actions listing has already grown too big. It's overwhelming, and the UI needs refactoring. Until I've had time to do that refactoring, I'm wary of adding new actions that can be done with simple scripting.
- Each new feature grows ProfileMatic a bit. As it's always running in background, each feature takes a bit more memory from the device.
- There's still much work. I feel I should prioritize stuff that can not be scripted.
Anyway, I understand writing scripts to a cell phone is quite annoying. So I added to ProfileMatic's homepage QR codes for the scripts so that you can easily scan with MeeScan and paste them to ProfileMatic. See them here:

Meego/Harmattan really lacks a proper background connection management and I think this is a rather central issue. I'm either forced to allow background connections on (battery doesn't last too long) or doing everything manually as I can't specify which connections can be used for "Always on". Maybe I just want to enable background connections when i'm out of house? maybe I also want to use background connections only at home when my WifI is within range...
Of course solving this by scripts is a valid option and I have no problem doing this. But I'm also in the situation where my girl friend also has a N9 and I find it hard for her and other "average" people if you need to use scripts/console/etc to solve the most basic things with your telephone. Also "Extra plugins" dissapeared from the store. This means yet another absolutely required tool being only available under circumstances...
I would love to see functios as toggling the BG connection in the firmware - but as this probably won't happen your tool remains one of the left alternatives to solve this problem...and I would love to see this being doable in a UI and not with a script....
