how do you mean beat? in "performance"? no. in usability? yes if 530 is in gnu/linux or symbian or even windows mobile powered device and mali 400 is in a garbage powered device(andrid, bada, wp, ios or similar)

yea whatever, its depends how u will describe it, its 2012, defend all you have, huawei can produce a quadcore product, and where is nokia? i ask u? are u dreaming want to play 1080p video with ur sgx530? are people oustside there want to play with xterminal everyminutes? they need usability, they deserve that with the same price at nokia product, garbage? what are you saying? its has better support than our beloved OS(ironic its dead, and killed by nokia)

What is all that hardware worth when its powering garbage that won't be supported and developed? At least Android is continuing to develop and improve and is supported by both its company AND an open-source community through the AOSP. CyanogenMod is an incredibly mature and open operating system based on Android, for example. You can't say the same for Maemo--it's a dead-end road with very limited flexibility to alter it, while Android has been customized in many different ways and flavors. We'll see how WebOS fares, given the new intention to open-source the OS. We'll see HOW open it is. Blackberry doesn't seem promising at all in any regard, neither does Windows Mobile/Phone. Apple isn't open at all, but at least they're continuing to maintain updates and supporting their products which is how you SHOULD take care of customers, despite their flaws regarding openness and some technical problems. THAT'S what good all that hardware is worth. Only as much as it can get improvements and support.

is android stil runing apps in DVM? if the answer is yes than it is GARBAGE

and applications for gnu/linux are developed for more than 20 years and will continue to be developed long after android/wp/ios crap is long forgotten

you do know that nokia has the most powerfull gpu amongst phones dont you? that plays 1080p just fine
its just not on crappy WP nokias

How sure are you about that?

If the GPU can do it, why does the OS struggle with it? Drivers seem to be the culprit then.

Could you elaborate why?
Do you mean JVM == VM?

Lots of applications are just fine running in sophisticated VM. (JIT)
There is very few reasons nowadays why some few application has to be compiled fully to native code. For security and developing speed issues, interpreted and JIT-compiled applications are often better, also in mobile devices.
For certain type of applications, having JIT-compiled code is also faster than having fully compiled code.

But I like and see a need for both.
That's why Tizen mobile phone with recent state of the art hardware, and with QtQuick support and Alien Dalvik VM would be the most best. Enough RAM (1.5 GB) and one could easily run HTML5, Python, QT and Android-applications all (real) multitasking in the same device.

Tizen; Samsung, Intel and Huawei is our hope. Tizen is a _real_ OSS Linux OS, so everything what is running in N900 or N9 can be "easily" ported to just plain installed and run in a Tizen device.
Fortunately Samsung nowadays has also decent hardware, like SGS2. Maybe even already SGS3 can be reflashed to Tizen.

But Android currently is better for me, with some 2- or 4-core CPU.
Nokia stays and dies with WP, it seems, so I probably turn to Samsung devices.

I think he's referring to the 808 PureView, rather than the N9.
