Especially dual/quad-core is useful if you have real multitasking like in Maemo, Meego, Tizen (?).

Why lens cover? I find it useless.

So that the camera won't scratch. And you can easily run it.

I've been using my N900 without lens cover (Mugen cover) almost from the start. No scratches, no dust, no fingerprints. But with Mugen cover the lens is somewhat indented which may help. Didn't have problems with Nokia N95 8GB either without a lens cover. I usually carry a phone in my pockets, of a jacket or trousers.

I would do the same trade-off again, let go lens cover for a bigger battery. I'm fine with the function when I push the camera shutter button down, a camera application starts.

I wonder if there is studies, is a lens cover in mobile phone really actually useful for protecting the lens or not. It may be just a feeling it would be.

Disagree. When I had a Samsung Captivate, I flashed new ROM's on it, was supported by the community. That was my decision. But Samsung would have supported my issues - I wanted a phone to hack.

When I got a Motorola Atrix, I had an issue that was resolved quite damn fast by them. In fact, I had a new Atrix in my hands before I got a chance to even send out the bad one. They supported me without question and hesitation.

When I got my Nokia 770 and had an issue, they sent it back, untouched, unchanged... wasn't even flashed back to stock. I found this forum, fixed it myself. That forced my decision pertaining support.

Same thing about the N810 - I got good enough to hack it around to where I felt good about it. And the N900 didn't fully support my 3G bands so no way in hell I was going to use EDGE. And the support on it was abysmal - so again Nokia didn't support me.

HP has supported my TouchPad - updated releases and I was missing a cable from the box, they sent me one without question. Motorola would support my Xoom, but I've hacked it to the point where I know I'm outside of the area of support. But I use XDA for support - no issues so far.

But a Nokia N9, I can't even get a SquareTrade warranty for it. I drop it, break it, brick it or have any other issues... no warranty whatsoever. I have to fix it myself. And that choice while taken away from me, I still did it anyway because of the prior experience with other forum support.

But to other lesser savvy users, they're screwed if they don't know this place. They should be able to get their stuff - dumb yet rich enough to pay for it, they should get access to standard warranty work if need be - instead of none whatsoever.

Only Nokia has consistently been like that for me in the last decade.

im sorry but when you flash a custom rom on your device you have deceided that you dont want official support from samsung(or any other manufacturer) in my post i am responding on a post mentioning CM which void varanty if something goes wrong like your usb stops working, your phone gets bricked and you have custom recovery on your phone, unless support tech are to lazy to check samsung will not repair your phone inside warranty and you will have to pay for the repair althou it is not your fault in any way that the usb electronics stopped working

I think you misunderstood everything I just said.

When I flashed the Samsung, it was my decision. I knew that if all else fails, it was my choice to do so. And I voided the warranty.

But by simply buying anything Maemo related, it's always been up to me to support myself because what I got from Nokia in terms of "support" with my 770 and N810 was a ****ing joke.

And now, with the N9 no matter what, I will be unsupported - I purchased a 7190 way back in the day overseas and Nokia supported it regardless while I was in the US.

Not sure where your argument is, but it's pretty ****ing poor to have prior experience go from favorable (7190) to horrible (770, N810 and N900) to downright nonexistent (N9).

All I did in the last bits were purchase it. Now, I have to support it. Thank goodness for places like this; otherwise, I'd been SOL.

And before some jerk chimes in with "Well, you didn't have to buy it" - I know that. But based on prior Nokia purchases, they tend to bend a bit and still support you. Not this time it seems.

Eh? We're talking different languages and discussions here it seems.

Have fun. You're happy with the support whereas it doesn't exist at all for the majority of the world where the N9 wasn't released yet sold through secondary channels like Amazon or Expansys.

Here we go again with the that old saw 'I don't need a new processor' after explaining how much better your experience and battery life would be with these new, more efficient architectures. Like I said before.. go back to your 486DX4/100MHz and waste electricity on less performance, less memory and fewer resources. I don't know how this place gets so many luddites popping up--OH right.. talk.MAEMO.org, I keep feeling like this site is all but abandoned by only the disappointed nostalgia geeks (myself among that group) and ardent Nokia fanbois in denial. Even Nokia, who insisted on the name change a few years ago, has already abandoned this site. THIS is the result. Stagnation in lieu of progress.

Still, it IS your opinion and you're welcome to it--but it really doesn't seem intelligent after what has already been pointed out.

Most modern Corning glass lenses (i.e. gorilla glass) is scratch resistant. Besides that, if Nokia was a better company they would have made replacement parts available just in case you needed to replace such bits but, as many of us have discovered, they're not a better company.

You appear to have a selective memory of this conversation. I think you overlooked NUMEROUS points about Nokia's poor support even compared with competing devices running stock ROMs. You CAN extend SOFTWARE support by using CyanogenMod--yes, but aside from that we also pointed out the horrid HARDWARE support (which, if you flash back to stock or never flashed a third party ROM to begin with, there is no difference) and the incredible lack of immediate presence for help, repair or replacements in most parts of the world--and increasingly poor in even many parts of Europe now. Nokia is a fainting ember of what USED to be a raging fire that COULD have done more. Stock, or self-supported hacking, Nokia is increasingly failing to compete. They would do well to actually put some effort into emulating successful businesses and ACTUALLY innovating the way they used to.
