My first Post.
I purchased a N800 in November and am very happy with it. I have spend some hours on this site learing how to add various applications. The most recent being “tablet-encode”. I encoded a DVD which I owned as a test. Everything seemed to go ok except when I play back the video the sound portions is way behind the video. Seems like a good 10 to 20 seconds. I am using version 2.16 of tablet-encode. I also tried converting a Mythtv recorded TV file and this worked just fine. I tried a different DVD but the result was the same as the first DVD. I did find a post back in Nov 07 about eliminating a line in the script " push @params, ($options{"index"} ? '-forceidx' : '-noidx');" which when I searched was not longer their. Also I am using OS2007 and mplayer. Any help on a possible solution would be appreciated.

Hi - and welcome to the forums...

I'd appreciate some more info in being able to diagnose your problem. From the sound of it, it's only DVDs which are affected...

What preset did you use? If you use a lower preset does the lag improve? What about if you play it on Media Player rather than mplayer?

I don't have an OS2007 device anymore, so am reliant on testing reports about the presets. The presets that are there now seem to work well with both Media Player and mplayer on OS2008, but YMMV.

Sorry for the inconvenience, though.

Cheers,

Andrew

Andrew thanks for the reply.

Yes I would agree that the sound lag is only with DVD's. Unfortunately I will not be able to try your test until Monday but I will try it with lower presets. I did not specifically use a preset as I recall. So I assume the software used its standard setting. I did not try it on Media player but I will give that a go as well. I will report back on Monday with result of further testing Regards,

Andrew

I did further testing by playing the files specifically in mPlayer and they palayed fine. So being new to the N800 and anovice on Linux I did not relaize that Media Player is the default player on the N800. On my Mythtv Linux box I was under the imppression that mPlayer was the default. So I will just play the DVD's with mPlayer . AT some point I will upgrade to OS2008 but I am not too keen to rush into that upgrade as I just got everything working on OS2007. Regards and again thanks for the help.
