Thats interesting. I thought that for using BT 4.0 a new BT chip is needed to support low energy profile? How can this be on N9 (the HW specs says its BT 2.1)?
Are there any worthwhile BLE devices widely available yet? A quick product search only comes up with a heart monitor, a watch and a whole lot of host-side adaptors.

The INdT is responsible for the
implementation for the BlueZ Bluetooth
4.0, Bluetooth protocol stack used in the
Linux operating system, also used in the
Nokia N9. The Low Energy Bluetooth for
the Nokia N9 is still in experimental stage. The study, begun in the second half
of 2010, is underway with the addition of
new features (Bluetooth Profiles).
