I decided to downgrade to the last OS 2007 release, and I'm glad I did! (Now I'm not constantly loosing my wi-fi connection!)

Evince is a great eBook reader program! After installing the latest version 0.9.0, I had to uninstall it and install an older version (evince 0.5.2) in order to read DJVU eBooks. I tried upgrading to evince 0.9.0 hoping the extra files I had to install for 0.5.2 would fix 0.9.0's ability to read DJVU, but with no luck. Unfortunately, I can't hide the toolbar under 0.5.2, but rotating the doc to display lengthwise is awesome.

PS: I used the directions given in the 3rd comment here: https://www2.blogger.com/comment.g?b...16815462507091

I didn't know that rotating was possible in 0.5.2. That's the most wanted feature for me. Do you know in which version they drop it? 0.9.0?

There's something i don't get. I wish I could go back to bora to answer my questions.. or at least see if it builds.
Ed_, did you have to install
gnome-keyring-1
and
libgnome-2.0
?

Or did you remove some support?
(I'm talking about v 0.9.0 but I hope your version has some of these 2 requirements)

Or am I missing some repositories..
deb http://repository.maemo.org/ chinook free non-free
deb-src http://repository.maemo.org/ chinook free
deb-src http://repository.maemo.org/extras chinook free
deb-src http://repository.maemo.org/extras bora free
deb file:/home/lke/maemo-sdk-nokia-binaries_4.0 chinook explicit

I'd really like to understand rather than rebuilding stuffs

And yes, rotating is a MUST feature!!
The 0.9.0 changelog reference only once document rotation:
evince (0.4.0-1) unstable; urgency=low

* New upstream version: (Closes: #311134)
- Document properties (Closes: #300761).
- Document rotation (Closes: #294555).

Nope, libgnome and gnome-keyring isn't needed unless you build evince with gnome support.

Some news on evince build for OS2008:
Yesterday I built evince for maemo(hildonized) with all backends
included(djvu,ps,dvi, tiff,cb[r,z],impress) except of PDF. PDF backend
requires newer poppler, which I'm going to build today. Didn't test in on the device yet, though.

Many thanks to Eduardo Lima (Etrunko) for the patch, it helped a lot.

I created project for evince on garage and I'm going to put sources there
today or tomorrow.

Everybody who is interested in porting/testing are welcome to join.

Regards,
Ed

Great! You can also join evince project on garage.
BTW, I've just uploaded my latest sources there.

PS: I'll subscribe everyone who joined the project (2 developers and 2 testers so far) to evince-devel@garage.maemo.org mailing list as soon as it will be created, so we can communicate in that list as well.
