Okay, so, I'm going out of town next week, to a place where they have a CompUSA. I'm really interested in getting a 770. I just have a few questions before I do.

1. Can the browser display PDFs inside of HTML pages? This is kinda important to me.
2. Is the device just a simple USB Mass storage device?

There is a PDF reader on the device, so it doesn't have a problem with PDFs.
When it's plugged into a computer, it mounts the Memory Card as a mass storage device, you can't access the internal memory, but the memory card is fully accessible.

1: no. it doesn't do them in the browser like internet explorer does them. however it does have the ability to display PDF files via PDF reader.

I highly recommend that you try an in-store demo and download a PDF. Text in smaller files is fine but it completely sucks for many PDFs. A co-worker had a Dell X50 (660mhz I believe) and it was very fast while dealing with PDFs.

PDF reading should be much improved with the coming up version of the OS as the new one will support softfloat, which will improve all floating point performance significantly. PDFs are mostly floating point operations (with scaling and all), so in a months or two months time we should be all much happier pdf readers.... I hope ,)

Thanks for the help. I think I'll try one out at the store first, but I'm probably gonna get one.
