Here's my first attempt... I tried to keep it short...

I couldnt find a way to insert mp3's except from an existing Mp4... so I've just used the sound from topet2k12001's boot video, by importing his video.

Video:

PSD if anyone wants to edit the video :P:

Hey guys, sorry for being a bit negative ...

From a technical perspective I understand it's cool to be able to have a custom boot video. As a programmer I really understand this.
But from the designer perspective I have to ask: What's wrong with the stock N9 Harmattan boot video? It's simple, unobtrusive and fits the overall Harmattan "design language".

@Schturman's boot video: This boot video has annoying music, to much moving objects, the serif font doesn't fit the Harmattan design at all, the colors of the MeeGo "logo" (as well as the font) don't fit the official MeeGo logo. To sum it up: It looks unprofessional.

@topet2k12001's boot video: Again, annoying music. The background is WHITE. This is so wrong for a boot video, especially for the N9 with it's AMOLED display where the black is just great so you most often can't see where the screen begins or ends. This is something a boot video has to utilize. Plus: These MeeGo mascots are just childish. The N9 is a cool and serious (business) device. And let's not forget that the N9 actually is running Harmattan with MeeGo API compatibilty. So these mascots don't fit all the more.

@danested's boot video: This one is also childish and unprofessional. To much colors, to much motion.

Again, sorry for the critique. But I don't think one has to do all sort of fancy things just because it's technically possible. The Nokia designers did a great job both in terms of hardware as well as software design. One doesn't have to disimprove this.

The Best Isaac, you are right. All this videos not professional, but still some people like the option to change original video to something different.

The Best Isaac,

I had wondered once why do we find ways to pack .deb pakages on our device instead of doing it on the PC; the simple answer was "BECAUSE WE CAN!!!"

So, the same applies here; since we can do it someone wants a change of scenery then just do it...AND keeping with the community spirit we have here, if someone does something for himself, he would post it here for anybody else to try too instead of keeping it only to himself...

The N9 has a number of themes; doesn't mean you like all of them...An individual's taste still stands but it would be grossly unfair to critique someone who is just sharing what he liked on his own device as he doesn't want to have all the fun himself...

Anyway you might just be having a bad day hence your post as I know you are quite a sane person

no, actually I had a good day.
Maybe my post was a little bit too hard, it wasn't meant to offend someone. I think I made some reasonable points; so anyone reading it could try to make a better boot video.

Well, maybe I will try it on my own later.
