I'm reading news articles in research and course prep. I want to print on the N800. On a PC I use 'print to file' to keep exact records of important articles. Before OS2008, there was talk here of a way to print from the browser, but I was too new with the tablet to try it. But I think I'm ready now. Anybody have any OS2008 info on printing?

Short answer: Install KDE.

Long answer: You have to install KDE to get printing support.

Pointless answer: Without printing engine, you cannot print to file.

Smug answer: Files from applications that can export to PostScript files, can be printed on PostScript printers.

Even smugger, anti-newbee answer: QuickScript is one such application. Search for more details.

Some printers (big industrial office machines, typically) can print e.g. PDF files from a web interface. But yes, you need programs that can write a ps or pdf, or that have an actual print function. So, xournal & KDE stuff, mainly.

Workaround #1: menu/web page/save as OR ctrl-s (sorry if it seems obvious);
Workaround #2: http://www.web2pdf.co.uk/

Of course these are good if you only need to save pages for future reference. If you really need to print, we have penguinbait's cups (for os2007) or another bsd based solution that has been published in this forum.
