Maybe because Jolla is having N950's as one and only dev device for everyday's work, up to date, and their first device won't have keyboard? It's unlikely, that they will host own dev program, as most talented devs own N950's.
Unofficial compatibility of 1GB RAM N950's with Jolla things may give our little devices some real usage, finally, and bump their prices quite much. What use in duper-core devices with gygabytes of RAM, if they're powered by useless Android or other pathetic OS/firmware? OTOH, Ubuntu is going **** way, so 1GB N950 device powered by Mer/Jolla may be only chance for *real* mobile linuxbox with powerful hardware.
Sure, N950 sill have irritating things like capacitive screen or lacking microSD slot, so personally, I preffer N950 despite it being RAM-challenged nowadays - but, some people may trade N900's design superiority for more RAM.
