Well, i know you cant' play .mov on N9, but the point is: something changed since the update. Naming is different and also encoding seems to be different. See attached image for example.

All videos in old version (cryptic name) could be played (except .mov). All videos in new format(owhatsapp_video...) can't be played, even when they are .mp4.

The only chance to play (some of) them (for me) is via VLC.

EDIT
just a wild guessing: maybe since Whatsapp updated their media-sending-protocoll, there is something like a checksum attached to the files, which is not decoded by Wazapp. This results in grey bars at the bottom of images and stock video player not playing videos, because it's to picky and "thinks" the videos are corrupted.

Wazapp can add a video selection feature in setting, like stock player or kmplayer

Unfortunately I did uninstall Wazapp. The intention was to start with a clean slate. Now I cannot install wazapp at all. It always ends up with a message saying Installation failed, installation interrupted after I try to download the dependencies. I do not believe this is a problem with the wazapp .deb. Sorry for being a bit dumb here. I have been following this community since Nokia 770 days and I never got stuck. But stuck I am now. If somebody could post an idiot's guide how to install wazapp from scratch and where to get the dependencies from I would be eternally grateful.

Yes, multimedia transfers changed ground up.
I have to talk to Tarek about the gray bar. Those are chunks of data missing.
Maybe even caused by server side.

About video, I have no idea, yet. But I know N9 was always picky about video encoding and format.
