I have searched for file managers for the N800 without much success. What alternatives to the built in file manager are available for OS2008.

Thanks,
lrentz

Emelfm2 ?

http://maemo.org/downloads/product/OS2008/emelfm2

I think it is available in the extra repository (even though the install file is missing on the download page)

I have quickly compiled "Worker" which is a nice File Manager for X.
http://www.boomerangsworld.de/cms/worker/index?lang=en

This is non-hildonized and no full screen..
Oops , sorry, The file exceeds the attachment limit here so I guess will leave it up to someone to port it properly and put it up on a repo.
If you do want the .deb file let me know, will upload it somewhere.

Although Emelfm2 is great, I'd love to see PCManFM ported the tablets.

Edit: I meant ported to hildon, pcmanfm already works with Easy Debian, etc.

Reminds me of Norton Commander/Midnight Commander/Windows Commander/Kommander.. and FTP/FXP clients. IOW: tree view on both sides with sweet keybinds

emelfm2 have a similar layout, altho using it that way is a pain as the screen is to small to really fit much data on it...

imo, gpe would have been perfect, if one could only adjust the size of the columns, and if it had the ability to show hidden files...

Wow.. this is a GREAT interface for a DESKTOP, nevermind even the maemo platform. Where has this been all along? It's pretty spiffy! I've LOVE to see this on my tablet.
